Vienna / Sofia, 22 April 2025 – PHH Attorneys at Law has advised RM Equity Partners (RMEP), a leading European investor in digital companies, on its acquisition of a majority stake in Carista. This marks the start of the next growth phase for the connected car platform, which already provides user-friendly vehicle control via OBD adapter and app in car brands such as VW, BMW, Ford and Toyota.
Carista was founded in Bulgaria in 2013 and has built up a loyal global user base since then. RMEP has now joined Carista as a strategic partner and acquired a majority stake. Carista founder Todor Kalaydjiev remains CEO and minority shareholder, which ensures continuity and the further development of the platform. Conversely, Carista will benefit from RMEP’s operational expertise and its pan-European network in the next growth phase.
The PHH team, led by partner Rainer Kaspar, advised RMEP comprehensively on the transaction structure, due diligence and contract documentation, negotiated the contract details and supported the investor until the contract was signed. Other members of the PHH team were Matthias Fucik (Counsel) and Nikolaus Pfau (Associate). The Bulgarian legal aspects were handled in close cooperation with Kambourov & Partners under the leadership of partner Veronika Hadjieva.
